This is a pretty sure recipe to gaining power quickly for a young character.

1) Build a good finisher right away. This means building your adrenaline gain. Start training only strength and spending your points on rage until you have an adrenaline gain of 30-40. Spend all your starting XP on Inner Rage until you have an adrenaline gain of about 60. Now, you can create a finisher with 1200-1400 adrenaline requirement. This finisher will be so strong that you can keep if for the rest of your career, which will mean that it will get a lot of time to level, and always be one of the strongest on your level.
2) Use the move database to determine what moves you want to make trademarks of. They should be the most powerful moves you get. For techs, ankle lock is a must for grounded. Full Nelson is good for groggy, but multiple German suplex is too if you want to do more direct damage. Train your technique until you have all the three moves you want to make into trademark moves. They will be like secondary finishers - very important to you. Be patient - never change a trademark move - not until you get the one you want to keep forever.
3) Invest all your money in entrance levels. This will give you more XP per match you have, which will allow you to purchase Advanced Techniques. When your wrestler grows old, it is the XP that will increase his power the most - not the leveling up of skills and skill points. Also, if you invest in entrance levels, many federations will want to hire you, which will give you more income and which will increase your fans.
4) Vote every day. This earns you tournament points. If you succeed at building a strong character, you can use your TPs to enter special tournaments. This will earn you a LOT of money if you win your matches. Spend it on more entrance levels, and you'll rise in power very, very fast.
